A card for any occasion! Above photo is a highlight of one of the great cards found at the felt and wire shop online. It has a very wide selection of letterpressed products. Looks like they have some decent prices too. http://feltandwireshop.com/categories/write

It is often challenging for designers to decide the best way to showcase their web work. Airside is a London-based creative agency that has found a unique and interesting way to solve that problem and showcase a website they built. view it here: http://www.airside.co.uk/work/projects/vitsoe

YouTube, Flash, and Typography

I have recently been trying to brush up my flash skills and have been watching YouTube videos for inspiration. Here are some interesting typographic Flash gems:

My favorite:

Movie trailers or opening movie credits are also a good source for Flash inspiration These probably weren’t created using Flash, but they could have been.

My personal favorite is the opening credits from Catch Me If You Can:

I found a few different title sequences for Big Fish. Both have a unique implementation of texture:

A Review on the Review Day

Friday, April 17 was my senior portfolio review. The event began 11am, so it’s safe to say I was quite nervous at about 10:30am. However, once the event began and a had discussed my work to a few of the reviewers, I quickly calmed down. In fact, I really enjoyed the experience. It was extremely helpful to get both positive feedback and constructive criticism about my work. Also, because I was part of the team of three students who designed the invitations and signage for the event, it was exciting to see that there was a steady flow of designers who attended the event. Professionals began showing up promptly at 11am the last review didn’t conclude until about 5:30pm.

Once again, I say “Thank you” to the professionals who attended the event. Your participation and advice was extremely valuable and I now feel much more prepared to begin my job search.

Look carefully or you just might miss it. This image is taken from one of Facebook’s advertisements (often on the right-hand side of the page). If you look closely at the bottom of the advertisement you can see a little “thumbs up” and “thumbs down” icon. If you click on the “thumbs down” you can mark why you don’t like that ad, and then the ad disappears. What a great step furthering facebook’s great user experience!

*commercial break* Fat Cow Web hosting

I just bought a domain name and server space! For awhile, I wasn’t sure which company to purchase from. Many people use Go Daddy, so, originally, I had assumed I’d just buy server space from them. However, when I went to the site, I found it was rather confusing to use. It was difficult to navigate, the design of the site just isn’t user friendly in my opinion. I decided to research a few other hosting sites. This led me to fatcow.com. Not only does this company have a great deal for a domain name and server space (only $66 a year), but their site is also much cleaner. Good user experience helped me to navigate to exactly where I wanted to go. Along the way, the site is filled with quirky cow-lingo, such as “Fat Cow has now gone free range” or “Great web hosting. No bull.” To top that off, they offer UNLIMITED disk space and bandwidth, compared to GoDaddy’s cheapest plan, which has a 10GB limit.

So, if you are in the market for a domain name and server space, I recommend you mooooove over to Fatcow.com
